Sid Lanier
|
|
Born
in Fayettevile, NC in 1950, Sid
was
educated in the Fayetteville City Schools. He graduated from Mitchell
College with an AA degree and from UNC Charlotte with a BA in Sociology
and a minor in Secondary Education. He received his Masters of Divinity
degree from Duke Divinity School in 1980 and has done additional
postgraduate work at Fuller Theological Seminary.

During
his years of ministry, he has served at Calvary UMC in Durham; El
Bethel-Hoey Memorial, Kings Mountain; East Flat Rock UMC,
Hendersonville; Hayesville UMC; First UMC, Pilot Mountain; Tabernacle
UMC, Greensboro; and Stony Point UMC, Stony Point. Rev. Lanier's
hobbies are golf and reading and he has participated in mission trips
to Barbados, the Bahamas, and Hurricane Andrew and flood relief in
eastern NC. A lifetime member of the Lions Club, he is also a member of
Emmaus Walk, Evangelism Committee for the WNCC, Committee on Church
Growth Conference, Board of Ministers at Greensboro College, the Hinton
Rural Life Center Board and the Southeastern Jurisdictional Board. He
is also a Church Growth Plus Consultant.

Us
We
are a mid-size church with about 400 members, some of whom are
long-time reisdents of Rural Hall, but many others who have joined us
after moving to this area from other communities or states.
Our
congregation includes those who have grown up as United Methodists,
others who have come to accept Jesus as adults, and those who have
transferred their membership from other denominations.
You'll
find us a friendly congregation that welcomes visitors and encourages
active involvement.

The
Staff Parish Relations Committee shall confer and counsel with the
pastor and interpret to the congregation the nature and function of
ministry. It shall annually recommend salaries to the Charge Conference
for the pastor and staff. It shall provide time and funds for
contributing education for the pastor and staff. It shall recommend
adequate staff needed to carry on the work of the local church. It
shall advise the bishop concerning the appointment of the pastor. It
shall enlist, interview, review, evaluate, and recommend the Charge
Conference persons for candidacy for ordained ministry.
